Orthopedic oncology is a specialized branch of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of tumors that affect the bones and soft tissues of the body. These tumors can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous).

Treatment often requires a multidisciplinary approach, involving orthopedic oncologists, medical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and rehabilitation specialists. The main goals are to remove or control the tumor, preserve as much limb function as possible, and maintain quality of life.
